As both local artisans and a small business, we need to keep our thumbs on the pulse of the furniture and interior design world. This often extends beyond woodwork (which, of course, is timeless). As a result, we have curated three trends that are here to stay.

MARBLE—This has been a huge trend in the past year, and it will only grow. It shows up in all areas of the industry—from tilemakers to kitchen counters marble is here to stay. Additionally, marbled carpets and textiles are a great way to bring this trend into your home for a nominal fee.

CERUSED WOOD—We mentioned that trends don’t often include woodworking updates, but this one caught us by surprise. A “cerused” finish refers to the technique that brings out the grain of wood. It used to exist exclusively in the high-end market, but it seems to have trickled down into more accessible pieces and furnishings.

JEWEL TONES—Beige and pastels are quickly disappearing in the rearview mirror. These dramatic tones—emerald green and amethyst, in particular—are growing more popular by the day.

OVERSIZED FURNITURE—People all over the world are growing accustomed to smaller living accommodations, leading to a more creative and more functional design trend. Oversized furniture both overwhelms the space and renders it inefficient. Smaller or custom-built pieces are the best way to fill your smaller living spaces.
